Meet the Team
The largest team on the Palouse.
Our staff consists of seven veterinarians, an office manager, eleven technicians/assistants, four receptionists, and three kennel technicians. Our staff works together to provide quality compassionate care.
Dr. Susila Bales is a 1997 graduate of Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine and joined the Animal Clinic the same year. Susila enjoys diagnostics such as; endoscopy, ultrasound, as well as soft tissue, orthopedic surgery, and tibial plateau leveling osteotomy (TPLO).
Stephen A. Gardai, a 1990 W.S.U. graduate whose excellent diagnostic and surgery skills has helped to carry on the reputation of quality medicine the Animal Clinic is known for.
Dr. Nancy Yorinks is a 1998 graduate of University of Wisconsin - Madison School of Veterinary Medicine. She has worked in North Carolina, Wisconsin, California, and Idaho. Dr. Yorinks joined the Animal Clinic in 2011 and she enjoys working on geriatric feline patients.
Dr. Melissa Kuhrt is a 2012 graduate of WSU College of Veterinary Medicine and rejoined the Animal Clinic the same year. Melissa had worked as a technician here from 2001 until 2008. Dr. Kuhrt enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine.
Dr. Christine Smith is a 2009 graduate of WSU College of Veterinary Medicine. Chris had worked here from 2003 until 2007 and she rejoined Animal Clinic in 2014. Dr. Smith performs most of our farm calls for equines and large animals. Chris enjoys orthopedic surgeries.
Dr. Chelsey Slosar is a 2016 Graduate of the WSU College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr Slosar joined the Animal Clinic team in June of 2017 after practicing at a mixed animal clinic in Blackfoot Idaho. Dr Slosar has prior experience in large animal work and enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine and surgery. She is currently pursuing a Masters Degree at WSU.
John holds an engineering degree and an MBA from Auburn University. He has lived on the Palouse for 22 years after departing the southeast. John has worked locally in management at NRS and the University of Idaho. He enjoys training his two German Shorthair Pointers and Chocolate Lab and raising livestock on the family farm.
Tracy grew up in Potlatch and moved to Lewiston after high school where she attended Lewis Clark State College. She earned her degree in bookkeeping in December 2004. Tracy joined the Animal Clinic team in January 2005.
Jared moved to the Palouse in 2010 with intentions of attending veterinary school at WSU. As with many things in life, plans change and he very much enjoys his job as a full-time technician. He is a proud member of the U.S. Army Reserves as a Truck Driver and completed deployments to both Iraq and Afghanistan. He loves spending time with his wife, Elizabeth, daughter, Aspen, and stepson, David. He also enjoys spending time outdoors fishing, hunting and camping. He has 2 dogs, Phoebe and Clifford, as well as 2 cats, Hazel and Ellie.
